About This Free Introductory Lesson

This free lesson introduces you to the model for which creation began fifty years ago as a result of a sense of urgency to develop intervention programs for violent juvenile offenders that significantly would reduce the number of repeat offenses.

Over the years that model has evolved through theory-based programming and theoretical models for “optimum human functioning,” and “The Nature of Being Human” to its current form as “The Nature of Individuality: A Model for Attempting to Understand the Complexities of Individuality.”

As the model evolved, it has been adapted to apply to violent juvenile offenders, violent juvenile sexual offenders, sexually-abused children, families of difficult-to-treat children and youth, social services workers, and the general public.

Two Dominant Fundamental Principles For This Course

1. Individuality must be viewed from a “Systems” perspective:

  • Individuality is a group of interacting and interrelated parts that work together to form a unified whole individual;
  • All parts of the individual must work together for the good of the whole individual; and,
  • No part should be permitted to exist at the expense of the whole individual or the expense of the other parts.

2. Individuality deserves the pursuit of excellence:

  • “Excellence is the result of high intention, sincere effort and intelligent execution.”
  • Excellence “represents the wise choice of many alternatives – choice, not chance determines your destiny.”
  • “Excellence is not an act but a habit”
